A Ring-Connected Dual Active Bridge Based DC-DC Multiport Converter for EV Fast-Charging Stations

This paper proposes a multiport DC-DC converter for EV fast-charging stations. The proposed is comprised of Ring-Connected Dual Active Bridge (RCDAB) converters, where the connection point between every two adjacent DABs provides DC port. Bypass switches are added to each DAB eliminate unnecessary power processing stages in event idle ports (no EVs) (open circuit ports). nature ring RCDAB theoretically allows infinite internal flow solutions within satisfy certain scenario at ports, hence, optimal solution can be selected minimize total RMS current and losses. Single-phase shift control applied this optimization problem make it simple. A novel closed-loop scheme using Bisection developed current. control-hardware-in-the-loop (CHiL) validation carried out 5-port network topology investigate efficiency fault tolerance/availability characteristics. Also, an experimental hardware implemented 3-port different scenarios faults performed. Finally, comparative discussion other topologies literature presented revealing superior performance topology.
